Dangerous
meeting

Pedro
and Ana met in the Children's Peace Movement and like each other, but
they can't see each other very often.
They live in different suburbs of Medellin. To visit
Ana is so dangerous for Pedro that it could cost him his life. In Medellin
no one will go into an unknown area where he is not recognized.
- I don't dare to enter any blocks further away because I can be shot,
says Pedro. Many of the houses where he lives are hastily put together
refugee-homes for families who have fled the war in the countryside.
A few days ago there was a fire-fight between gangs.
- But the worst thing is when children are taken hostage in exchange
for money, or if someone kills children, says Pedro.
- We try to get the parks respected as peace zones where children can
play and feel secure, says Pedro.
